Hey folks, with the recent weekend over, we hoped that you've had a good rest, recharged and ready to take on the week! Well, if you are not, here's something that we hope will help to lift your spirits. While everyone is busy relaxing and enjoying their weekend, we at onlinelabseries have been hard at work, planning, strategising and think about some of our long-term goals and plans as well as how we intend to achieve them. That eventually led us to developing our pledge.
What's a Pledge?
Well, a pledge is basically a commitment that we make, a public declaration of the things that we plan to do and will do in the near future. Wherever you might be right now, we believe you must have recited a pledge of sorts at one point or another. And that is what it means. It is something that you will stand by no matter what happens.
What's Our Pledge?
So, after some careful thoughts & considerations, we have decided that we're going to make both a short- to mid-term goal and pledge. You can actually read more about it on our "About OLS" page, but we're just going to put it here for you:
By March 2020:
If we managed to reach 1.5 million people worldwide, we will give away 500,000 iPad Pro worth US$485.8 million through the donations we have received from the public and community. (specifications equivalent to what is available right now)
And we will also give away 250,000 STEM & skills development kits worth US$112.5 million.
By March 2022:
If we managed to reach 3 million or more people worldwide, we will give away 1,000,000 iPad Pro worth US$971.6 million through the donations we have received from the public and community. (specifications equivalent to what is available right now)
And we will also give away 500,000 STEM & skills development kits worth US$250 million.
As for the date set for the goal, we will not have to necessarily stick to it. The moment we reach out membership goal of 1.5 million or 3 million, whichever is the case, we will execute the pledge that we have so publicly announced.
In total, we will be pledging an amount of roughly US$1.819 billion worth of educational kits (e.g. MakeBlock and littleBits, various Arduino Kits) and iPad Pros to help those without access to proper schools, as well as skills development programs around the world.
Fulfilling Part of Our Vision
These pledges are part of our goal and mission to realise our vision, which is to provide free educational learning content and the tools for those that can't afford it or have access to it, so that they can learn. And we definitely look forward to the day when we can see volunteers traveling around the world, helping us to deliver those products and educational learning kits to children teenagers and even adults in the most remote parts of the world. But we also will target developing & first world nations where technology progression has affect those who might have lost their jobs in the process.
We simply want to fulfill our vision and goals because we know that there are so many people & children out there can be benefitted from what we are trying to achieve.
We want to give back to the world, more than anything else, and this is one of the ways we know how. We believe in doing something impactful and at the same time big, not because we are seeking recognition from anyone in general. We simply want to fulfill our vision and goals because we know that there are so many people & children out there can be benefitted from what we are trying to achieve.
Join Us and Support Us. Help Us to Fulfill Our Pledges.
The next most important thing that we need right now is the support from the people, the general community, people like you. Basically anyone that shares a common belief in our vision and mission. People that can relate with our goals and pledges. If you think that what we want to achieve is something you would like to support, make sure to sign up as a member on our website and be a part of our community. Help us to share our articles, like our posts and invite others you know to join in.
Another thing that you can also do is to help us by making a financial contribution. There really isn't a fixed or minimum amount, so just give according to your heart's content. Getting those iPads and educational learning kits are definitely going to cost money and it's not going to fall from the sky for us. Another way you can help us would also be by contributing used electronics, products, items that can be used during any part of our lab series curriculums. It could be used electronics that are already opened before, or a device model that is not really old, but you are simply thinking of replacing with a better one. Every single piece of contribution coming in to this platform & community will go a long way in helping us to materialise our vision.
We are also exploring the idea and possibility of raising funds with various lab series project showcases and using those funds to supplement what we are working towards. More information will definitely be provided in the weeks and months to come. For those that have already shown your support to us, thank you so much! We appreciate it more than you will ever know.
